33rd Prison Awareness Week

Life during this pandemic, as COVID-19 continues to spread, has sparked fear, frustration, and anxiety most especially to our brothers and sisters inside prison with an increasing number of Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) and in the Correctional Institute for Women (CIW) – now with a total population of approximately 33,000 inmates.

Aligned with the church’s celebration of the 33rd Prison Awareness Week on 19-25 October 2020 with the theme: “Restoring Hope and Healing during this Time of Pandemic through God’s Transforming Unconditional Love”, the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service (PJPS) launches the Simple Offering of Affection for PDLs or S.O.A.P. campaign.

Through S.O.A.P., we hope to provide all PDLs with hygiene kits (bath and laundry soaps) during the weeklong celebration at the NBP in Muntinlupa City and CIW in Mandaluyong City to help in the sanitation campaign against Covid-19.

With this, we wish to invite you to join the S.O.A.P. campaign by donating either in cash or in kind. Your P150 can provide one PDL one hygiene kit for a month (2 bath soaps and 2 bars of laundry soap) to take a bath and wash his clothes. Below are the ways you can collaborate with PJPS to provide S.O.A.P. to PDLs.
