Bagito Orientation: Welcoming New Beginnings with Hope and Compassion

June 03, 2026 | RVM Convent, Cubao, Quezon City

Every journey begins with a first step. For women newly admitted to the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW), that first step is often accompanied by uncertainty, fear, and countless questions about what lies ahead.

On June 03, 2026, the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS), in partnership with the Religious of the Virgin Mary (RVM) Sisters, gathered at the RVM Convent in Cubao, Quezon City, to conduct the Bagito Orientation for the second batch of participants in the Bagito Program in CIW.

More than an orientation, the gathering was a heartfelt welcome into a community that believes in dignity, healing, and hope.

The Bagito Program is a psychospiritual initiative designed to support newly admitted Persons Deprived of Liberty as they transition into life inside the prison camp. Recognizing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual challenges that accompany this transition, the program seeks to provide a safe space where participants can begin to process their experiences and discover renewed strength within themselves.

For many women entering the correctional system, the adjustment can be overwhelming. The sudden separation from loved ones, the unfamiliar environment, and the weight of past experiences can create feelings of isolation and despair.

Through programs such as Bagito, PJPS, and its partners strive to remind every participant that they are not alone and that their story is far from over.

The presence and support of the RVM Sisters brought warmth, compassion, and encouragement to the orientation. Their commitment to accompanying vulnerable communities reflects a shared mission of restoring hope and affirming the God-given dignity of every person.

At the heart of the Bagito Program is a simple but powerful truth: every individual deserves the opportunity to heal, grow, and begin again.

As the second batch of participants embarks on this journey, we pray that they find courage in the midst of challenges, strength in community, and hope in the possibility of transformation. Every conversation shared, every lesson learned, and every act of accompaniment becomes a reminder that lives can be renewed when compassion meets commitment.

This mission is only possible because of the generosity of people who believe in second chances and in the inherent worth of every human person.

Together, we can continue creating spaces of healing and transformation for persons deprived of liberty. Together, we can accompany them as they rebuild their lives with dignity and hope.

Support our mission and become a partner in transformation.

Thank you for helping us restore hope, uphold dignity, and accompany lives toward meaningful transformation.
