In a sacred space of silence and encounter, the Junior High School and Senior High School scholars of the Scholarship Program known as SHinE or Sparkling Hope in Education gathered for their Annual Ignatian Retreat last March 14 to 15, 2026 at Golden Arable Farm in Maragondon, Cavite.
With the theme “Blessed, Broken, and Shared” or “Pinagpala, Binasbasan, at Ibinahagi,” the retreat invited our scholars to reflect on their life stories. They were guided to recognize the blessings they have received, embrace their brokenness, and discover how they are called to share themselves with others.
For the Junior High School scholars, Karina Mayumi “Yumi” Wada, MA, LPT led meaningful sessions that helped them rediscover their identity and worth as persons deeply loved by God. For the Senior High School scholars, Rev. Bien Emmanuel C. Cruz, SJ accompanied them in a deeper reflection on life, vocation, and purpose. He challenged them to see both their joys and struggles as part of God’s greater plan.
Throughout the retreat, the scholars were given time for prayer, silence, reflection, and sharing. In these moments, many experienced a deeper encounter with God and a renewed sense of hope.
This retreat is truly a moment of grace. It is where hearts are opened, wounds are acknowledged, and healing begins. After the retreat, the scholars joyfully spent time exploring the farm, swimming in the pool, and simply enjoying each other’s company while sharing donuts and ice cream.
We extend our deepest gratitude to Golden Arable Farm, especially Dr. Gregorio A. Andaman Jr. and family, and Mr. Jojo Guevarra Valenzuela, General Manager, for their generous hospitality and support in hosting this retreat.
We also thank you, our volunteers, benefactors, and supporters, for making this possible. Because of your generosity, our scholars are not only supported in their education but are also formed in faith, character, and purpose.
As they return from this retreat, may they carry with them the grace of being blessed, broken, and shared, ready to become instruments of hope and transformation in their families and communities.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
