Brewing Hope: Coffee Skills Training for Ka-Laya Batch 2

Hope was brewed and lives were transformed as Ka-Laya Batch 2 successfully completed the 2-Day Coffee Skills Training last March 16–17, 2026 at the Barista & Coffee Academy of Asia (BCAA).

This initiative, under the PRL CARE Program of the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS), continues to provide opportunities for our Ka-Layas—former Persons Deprived of Liberty, to rebuild their lives with dignity, confidence, and purpose.

Throughout the two-day training, participants were equipped with essential barista skills, from understanding coffee fundamentals to hands-on preparation and service. More than technical learning, the experience became a space of renewal, encouragement, and hope, reminding each participant that new beginnings are always possible.

This meaningful formation was made possible through the generous service and expertise of our volunteer instructors: Errol Reyes, Angela Ferreria-Tan, Ma. Concepcion Q. Samaniego, Fritz Kramnik Rodriguez, Roger Destura Jr., and Chester King Nimer.

Their dedication and passion in sharing their knowledge have greatly contributed to the empowerment of the Ka-Layas of baLAYA ni Lolo Kiko. Through their guidance, participants are now better equipped with skills that open doors to livelihood opportunities and brighter futures.

Held in partnership with BCAA and culminating at The Place Building, Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, this training reflects the power of community, collaboration, and compassion.

We extend our deepest gratitude to YOU. Our volunteers, benefactors, and supporters for making this possible. Your generosity continues to transform lives and restore hope.

Together, we continue to walk with our Ka-Layas. One skill, one opportunity, and one renewed life at a time.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
