Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Every year, the Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola invites us to return to the heart of our mission. It is a moment to remember why we serve, whom we serve, and the God who continues to call us to become instruments of hope in the lives of others.

On July 31, 2026, the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service gathered at the PJPS Office to celebrate the Feast Day of St. Ignatius of Loyola. Staff members, volunteers, and benefactors came together for a Eucharistic Celebration followed by a simple salo-salo, joyful games, and a short program that strengthened the bonds of our growing community.

The celebration was simple, yet deeply meaningful. It reminded us that the spirit of St. Ignatius is not found only in grand occasions. It is present in every act of generosity, every listening ear, every volunteer who gives their time, and every person who chooses to walk alongside those who are often forgotten.

As we shared meals, laughter, and stories, we were reminded that our mission is built not only through programs and activities but through relationships rooted in compassion and faith. Every smile shared that day reflected the joy of serving together. Every conversation became a reminder that God continues to work through ordinary people with willing hearts.

St. Ignatius taught us to seek and find God in all things. At PJPS, this invitation comes alive each day as we accompany Persons Deprived of Liberty, support their families, journey with scholars, and advocate for dignity, justice, and hope. Our mission is more than providing services. It is about restoring human dignity and believing that every person has the capacity for renewal and transformation.

This celebration also became an opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to our volunteers, benefactors, partners, and friends whose generosity makes this mission possible. Your kindness becomes hope for someone longing for a second chance. Your support reminds those we accompany that they are not forgotten.

As we continue the mission entrusted to us, may the life of St. Ignatius inspire each of us to live with courage, humility, and generous hearts. May we continue to discern where God is calling us and respond with love that serves without counting the cost.
