Forming Hearts in Gratitude and Hope: PJPS Elementary Scholars, Parents, and Guardians Recollection 2026

On March 22, 2026, the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. gathered elementary scholars together with parents and guardians for a meaningful day of recollection at Xavier School Nuvali. It was a day filled with reflection, learning, and renewed commitment to faith and family.

Participants came from different formation areas including the North, South, and nearby provinces such as Batangas, Quezon, Antipolo, Bulacan, Pangasinan, and the Virtual Group Bicol. Despite coming from different backgrounds, they were united by a shared desire to grow, to listen, and to be transformed.

The recollection provided separate but equally meaningful sessions for the children and for the parents and guardians. The elementary scholars were guided by Ms. Eleanor “Elyn” Aracid, while the parents and guardians were accompanied by Ms. Djarna Pestaño. Both sessions created safe and nurturing spaces where participants were encouraged to reflect on their experiences, relationships, and faith journeys.

With the guidance of PJPS staff and volunteers, group sharing became a powerful moment of connection. Stories were shared openly, hearts were touched, and many realized that they are not alone in their struggles and hopes.

The reflections of the young scholars showed a sincere desire to grow in kindness and forgiveness. One scholar shared a heartfelt realization about the need to be more understanding and to truly let go of past hurts. Another expressed the importance of being respectful and living out the lessons learned, recognizing that these values are essential for their growth.

For the parents and guardians, the recollection became a space of renewal and deeper understanding. One parent shared how gratitude, once seen as a simple word, became a daily practice that changed her perspective in facing life’s challenges. Another reflected on how moments of silence and reflection helped her see trials as opportunities for growth and strength. A mother beautifully described life’s struggles as seasons that pass, reminding everyone that with God, no hardship lasts forever.

More than a one day gathering, the recollection became a sacred encounter that strengthened not only individuals but also families. It reminded everyone that formation is not only for the scholars, but also for those who journey with them every day.

With grateful hearts, PJPS extends its sincere thanks to Xavier School Nuvali for generously providing the venue, to our dedicated volunteers and staff who facilitated the sessions, and to our benefactors and sponsors whose continued support makes these meaningful experiences possible.

As we continue our mission, we invite everyone to journey with us in forming lives rooted in faith, compassion, and hope.

and be part of transforming lives.
