Behind every scholar is a story.
Behind every story is a family.
And sometimes, love means traveling miles just to say, “We’re here for you.”

Last February, the PJPS Team journeyed to Bicol to conduct home visits for 15 of our scholars. A meaningful mission led by Ms. Jesusa Ramos, Scholarship Program Coordinator, together with Aimanne Jay Nicolas (our Jesuit Volunteer Philippines partner for this year), dedicated volunteers Tita Eda Guina and Mariel Ramos, and our ever-reliable driver, Tatay Jose Gualberto Nala.
Home visits are more than routine check-ins. They are moments of listening, understanding, and strengthening relationships. They remind our scholars and their families that they are not alone in their journey.
Along the way, we were blessed to meet and collaborate with mission partners who share the same heart for formation and accompaniment.

For our PJPS Bicol Scholars, formation will be supported by Jesuit Volunteer Philippines, who will help guide their growth beyond academics. Forming not only scholars, but persons of character and compassion.

We are also deeply grateful to Bishop Joel 'Bong' Baylon of the Diocese of Legazpi for warmly welcoming the PJPS mission. The Bishop’s Residence at Harong kan Ama in Daraga, Albay will generously serve as the venue for scholar formation every 4th Sunday of the month.

The journey also allowed us to share fellowship over dinner with the Jesuit Community in Ateneo de Naga University, a beautiful reminder that this mission is always a shared one.

Special thanks as well to Mr. Reylord Chito of Bigaa, Albay for providing accommodation for the team during our stay. Your hospitality made this mission lighter and warmer. <3
We are grateful for this opportunity to accompany our scholars in Bicol. The mission continues, one home, one family, one scholar at a time.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
