March 3-4, 2026
For the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. (PJPS), this was not simply another planning workshop. It was a moment of grace.
Gathered as one staff community, hosted generously in the home of our beloved Tita who continues to open her space for the mission, we entered into two days of prayer, reflection, honest assessment, and courageous discernment. We called it Magis in Mission.
In the Ignatian tradition, magis does not mean doing more for the sake of appearing productive. It does not mean expanding endlessly or exhausting ourselves in service.
Magis means choosing what leads to the greater good, the greater transformation, and the greater glory of God.
As we enter Fiscal Year 2026–2027, we paused to ask the questions:
Where is God leading PJPS now?
Which of our programs truly bring hope and transformation?
Where must we refocus, simplify, or let go?
How can we serve with greater integrity, sustainability, and impact?
Rooted in Ignatian discernment, the workshop allowed us to revisit our mission and vision, reflect on our Theory of Change, and examine both our strengths and limitations. We conducted an honest SWOT analysis. We evaluated the mission integrity and impact of our programs—Scholarship, Socio-Pastoral, Advocacy, and PRL Care. From there, we moved from reflection to resolution.
Day 1
Reflection on PJPS Mission and Vision
Theory of Change Discernment
Mission Integrity and Impact Assessment
SWOT Analysis
Day 2
Strategic Prioritization and Identification of Priority Outcomes
Articulation of SMART Goals and KPI Development
Strategy Mapping, Resource Allocation, Risk Identification
Assignment of Persons-in-Charge and Timelines
Closing Mass
Our planning ensures:
Greater mission alignment and integrity
Greater impact and sustainability
Clear SMART goals and measurable KPIs
Realistic use of resources and staff capacity
Deepened Ignatian discernment and commitment
Magis in Mission means:
Choosing depth over busyness.
Alignment over activity.
Sustainability over overextension.
Impact over appearance.
Faithfulness over mere productivity.
It is a call to do fewer things, but to do them better. It is a renewal of our covenant with those we accompany behind bars. It is a commitment to serve with clarity, courage, and compassion.
As we closed with the Eucharist, we entrusted Fiscal Year 2026–2027 to the Lord. May He who has begun the good work in us bring it to completion.
Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.
