On January 28, 2026, BaLaya ni Lolo Kiko, the formation house of the PRL CARE Program, opened its doors once more to welcome KaLaya Batch 2. Eight individuals who have courageously said yes to a journey of healing, formation, and renewal.

The Entrance Day began with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Most Rev. Buenaventura Malayo Famadico, D.D., grounding the community in gratitude and faith. The Mass reminded everyone present that transformation begins when people are seen, accompanied, and believed in.
Ms. Ma. Katherine Guaño, Associate Director of PJPS, formally welcomed KaLaya Batch 2, affirming the heart of the PRL CARE Program: to walk with persons deprived of liberty through intentional formation, community support, and the restoration of dignity.
The introduction of KaLaya Batch 2, together with the giving of certificates and tokens, was led by Mr. Gene Alolosan, PRL CARE Program Coordinator and BaLaya ni Lolo Kiko Formator. Each certificate symbolized commitment to show up, to reflect, and to grow.
A powerful moment followed as Mr. Roniel Abrenica, a member of KaLaya Batch 1, shared words of encouragement drawn from lived experience. His message resonated deeply: the journey is not easy, but it is possible. Especially when no one walks alone.
The celebration was further enriched by the Inspirational Message of Dr. Resurreccion Morales, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of PJPS, who emphasized that programs like PRL CARE exist because people choose to believe. Believe in change, in process, and in hope beyond confinement.

The day concluded with Closing Remarks and a Blessing for KaLaya Batch 2 by Fr. Erwin F. Arandia, SJ, Acting Executive Director and Formation Head of PJPS, sending the new batch forth with prayer and trust in the work that lies ahead.
A simple salu-salo followed. Reminding everyone that at the heart of formation is community.

KaLaya Batch 2 is here because YOU believed.
Because partners trusted the mission.
Because donors sustained the journey.
Because volunteers showed up.

As KaLaya Batch 2 begins their journey under the PRL CARE Program, we ask you to pray with us and for them that they may encounter healing, courage, and a deeper sense of dignity, one step at a time.
Thank you for believing. The journey continues.
