Ignatiana 2026: Celebrating Hope Through Service, Community, and Second Chances

Every celebration becomes more meaningful when it reminds us why we serve. On July 26, 2026, the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service Foundation, Inc. joyfully joined the celebration of the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola during Ignatiana 2026 at Ateneo de Manila University. Together with our dedicated staff, committed volunteers, and the inspiring members of the PJPS Ex-preso, we celebrated not only the life of St. Ignatius but also the countless stories of hope that continue to unfold through prison ministry. The feast was more than a gathering. It became a living witness that faith, compassion, and solidarity can transform lives. Visitors were welcomed by Likhalaya, a collection of beautiful handcrafted products lovingly created by Persons Deprived of Liberty and Persons Restored of Liberty. Every woven piece, handcrafted item, and work of art carried more than skill. They carried dreams, perseverance, and the quiet belief that every person deserves the opportunity to begin again. Each handcrafted creation reminded everyone that behind prison walls are people with talents waiting to be recognized and hearts longing to contribute once more to society. Another meaningful highlight of the celebration was the presence of the PJPS Ex-preso, who proudly served coffee to guests throughout the event. Behind every cup was a remarkable story of courage and renewal. The baristas are former Persons Deprived of Liberty who journeyed through the programs of PJPS. With guidance, formation, and continuous accompaniment, they found new opportunities to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into the community with dignity. Today, they welcome every customer with confidence, proving that transformation becomes possible when people are given trust, support, and a second chance. Their smiles spoke louder than words. Every cup served became a quiet testimony that hope can be shared one person at a time. The life of St. Ignatius of Loyola reminds us that every journey of conversion begins with a willingness to listen to God's invitation. His own transformation continues to inspire our mission of walking with those who seek healing, reconciliation, and new beginnings. At PJPS, we believe that prison ministry is not simply about visiting correctional facilities. It is about restoring human dignity. It is about recognizing Christ in every person. It is about building communities where forgiveness is stronger than judgment and where hope becomes greater than despair.
