PJPS Ex-Preso Brewing Hope with Every Cup at PCMC

Yesterday, we brought Ex-Preso to the Philippine Children’s Medical Center, and what a grace-filled encounter it was. In just three hours, we served 500 cups of coffee. A record-breaking feat for our team, made possible by the generous heart of Camille, who not only sponsored the gig but lovingly introduced our advocacy to every person who received a cup. Her kindness brewed more than coffee, it stirred hope.
I had the joy of helping at the tail end of production, adding the final touches such as chocolate sauces, barista milk, and ice. We were so immersed in the moment, we didn’t realize we’d been standing for three hours. It was pure joy, an experience etched in my heart.
While finishing a Spanish Latte, I noticed something extraordinary as the shadow of our Ex-Preso logo reflected perfectly on the milk. A quiet miracle of light and timing. Just moments later, I was introduced to the Head Nurse. As we shared the story of Ex-Preso, she suddenly understood that our baristas are ex-preso’s. Her eyes lit up. She called everyone over for a photo, pointing to our signage and declaring, “God is present in them, Father. Thank you for this experience. God’s love is shining on them.” In that silence, I wondered if perhaps that’s why I saw the shadow. Because God was shining on us.

After the gig, we visited Fr. Albert Garong, SSP in his coffee nook. He recalled our early days when we accepted bookings even without equipment, driven only by faith and mission. Who would have thought this dream would become reality? That visit, I believe, uplifted our PRL baristas. It reminded them of how far they’ve come, and how deeply they are seen.
Reflecting on the day, I saw God’s truth revealed as His generosity cannot be outdone. His Spirit moves with perfect timing. He is the God who makes the impossible possible. I imagine a joyful God, watching our PRLs live a new meaning of Ex-Preso, not something to hide from, but something to be proud of. A name transformed by grace.
Thanks be to God.
My prayer:
Lord, continue to lead Ex-Preso into the depths of Your mercy and the clarity of Your will. May we never lose sight of Your Gospel. Remind us always that Your generosity and grace overflow. Grant us the courage to dream boldly, trusting that You will make a way. Amen.
